Detailing question
How do you care for single-stage paint?
Single-stage paint (most pre-1990 cars) has no clear coat. The color layer is the surface. Aggressive polishing removes irreplaceable color.
Single-stage paint (most pre-1990 cars) has no clear coat. The color layer is the surface. Aggressive polishing removes irreplaceable color. Hand wash with pH-neutral soap, hand wax with carnauba (synthetic sealants can react), never use compounding polishes, and store out of direct UV when possible. With proper care, single-stage paint can last 50+ years. With wrong care, 1 polish session ends it.
