Typical duration: One day for runabouts. Two days for larger cabin cruisers.
What is included
- Hull cleaning above the waterline
- Gel coat polish to remove oxidation and chalking
- Marine-grade sealant on hull and topsides
- Vinyl upholstery clean and condition (UV-stable protectant)
- Brightwork (varnished wood) clean and polish
- Metal trim polish (stainless, aluminum)
- Deck wash and degrease
How we do it
- Inspection: We start with a walk-around to assess gel coat condition, oxidation level, and brightwork.
- Wash: Marine-grade boat soap, foam pre-soak, soft mitt.
- Decontaminate: Marine clay bar pulls bonded contamination off gel coat.
- Polish: Single or two-stage compound with marine-specific products to remove oxidation and bring back gloss.
- Seal: Marine sealant or wax — different chemistry from automotive.
- Interior: Vinyl clean and UV-stable conditioner. Carpet shampoo if equipped.
- Final: Metal polish on stainless rails and aluminum trim.
Recovery time
24 hours before launching after polishing or sealing the hull above the waterline.
When this is not the right call
Below the waterline is haul-out work — bottom paint, antifouling — separate trade from detailing. We do everything above the waterline.
Frequently asked questions
At the marina or at my house?
Both. Marina is easier if the boat is in the water. Trailered boats at home are fine too.
Will the gel coat polish come back?
Yes, with a two-stage compound. Heavily oxidized hulls take a day on their own.
How often should I detail?
Spring open + fall close-out for stored boats. Mid-season detail if the boat is in heavy use.
