Both have a fit — they just fit different jobs. Mobile wins on convenience and works for 95% of detailing services. Shop work has its place for ceramic coating cure, climate-controlled environments, and overnight projects. Here is the honest breakdown so you can pick.
STRAIGHT ANSWER
For routine detailing — wash, interior, paint correction, headlight restoration, trim restoration, odor removal — mobile wins. The detailer comes to you, you skip the shop drop-off / pick-up cycle, and the price is the same or lower. For ceramic coating, PPF, full multi-day correction, and anything that needs climate-controlled cure — shop work is the right call. We do both, but we are honest about which one fits which job.

Ceramic coating cure
The chemistry needs controlled temperature, humidity, and a dust-free environment for 12-24 hour cure. Driveway installs work in mild weather windows (60-80°F, low humidity) but NC summer afternoons and winter freeze events fall outside the chemistry's tolerance. For 5-year and 9-year coatings, shop install protects the investment. We have a controlled environment for these jobs.
PPF installation
Paint protection film requires exacting installation conditions — heat, alignment, edge-tucking — that benefit from a stable shop environment. Driveway PPF can work for spot repairs (rock chip patches) but full-front or full-vehicle PPF is shop work.
Multi-day projects
Heavy paint correction with multiple stages, wet-sanding, panel-by-panel work that runs 16-24 hours total across 2-3 days — these projects need the vehicle to live in the shop for the duration. Storing it at your home and our crew coming back day after day costs you parking and us travel time.
