How long does ceramic coating take to cure?
Surface cure is 24 hours. Full chemical cure is 7 days. The coating reaches manufacturer-specified hardness in 30-90 days depending on the product.
A ceramic coating becomes touch-dry in 4 to 12 hours, water-safe in 24 to 48 hours, and fully cured in about 7 days. The 30-day mark is when it reaches peak hydrophobic performance and durability. During the first week, no washing, no rain if avoidable, no soap. Coatings flashed in a controlled environment cure faster than driveway installs.

When to pick something else.
Do not stack a second coating layer past the manufacturer's window. Usually 12-24 hours after the first. Past that window, the second layer does not bond properly.

Why no water for 7 days if surface cure is 24 hours?
Surface cure means dry to the touch. Chemical cure means the polymer chains have cross-linked into the clear coat. Water on uncured ceramic causes high spots and water etching.
Can I park in the garage during cure?
Yes, that is ideal. The garage protects from rain and bird droppings during the cure window.
Will sun affect the cure?
Direct sun on uncured ceramic can flash-cure the surface unevenly. We park in shade for the first 8-12 hours.
