What causes black streaks on RV sides?
Rainwater running off the roof carries dissolved roof grime, rubber particles, and sealant residue down the sidewalls, drying into vertical black streaks. They are stubborn because the residue is oily, not just dirt.
Every RV gets black streaks eventually because every RV roof collects grime between washes. Rain dissolves that layer and drains it down the sides at the same spots every time: below seams, corners, awning brackets, and gutter spouts. The residue carries oxidized rubber and sealant oils, which is why a normal wash smears it instead of removing it.
We remove streaks with a dedicated cleaner that cuts the oily residue, then follow with protection on the sidewalls so the next season of streaks wipes off far easier. On a full RV detail the roof gets washed too, which is the actual fix. A clean roof simply has less to send down the walls.
