Stainless steel trim (1980s+ Mercedes, BMW, Lincoln) oxidizes to a dull gray. Restore: clay bar to remove embedded contamination, polish with metal-specific polish (Wenol, Autosol), buff with microfiber. For deeply oxidized trim, 1000-grit wet sanding before polish brings back factory shine. Avoid: chrome polish (different metallurgy), household abrasives. Properly polished trim lasts 6+ months between treatments.
