Sun-faded plastic trim — bumpers, side mirrors, cowl panels — turns gray and chalky as UV breaks down the surface. Cheap trim restorers darken it for a few weeks then wash off. The long-term fix is a polymer-based or solvent-based trim restorer (CarPro DLUX, Solution Finish, Cerakote) that bonds and lasts 6 months to 2 years. Severely degraded trim sometimes needs sanding and dyeing.
