Hot water extraction (HWE) injects heated water and detergent into carpet fibers, then vacuums the slurry back out. This pulls embedded dirt, stains, and odors better than spray-and-wipe. Most professional detailers use HWE for stained or pet-affected interiors. Done properly, carpets dry in 4 to 8 hours. Done with too much water, they stay damp for days and grow mildew.
