How many layers of ceramic coating do you need?
For most products: one or two layers. Past two, returns diminish significantly. Some 9-year tier products are designed for a single thick layer; some 2-year products benefit from a second.

When to pick something else.
Do not stack 3+ layers. The coating can only hold so much material. Past 2 layers, polymer crystals do not bond well and you get streaking.

Marginally, with some products. Not double the life.
What about "booster" sprays on top?
Those add a few months of hydrophobic performance, not coating life.
