What is the best way to protect a motorcycle stored outside?

A breathable cover over a fully cleaned, protected, and dried bike. Protection on the paint and metal, dressing on rubber, lube on the chain and pivots, and a cover that lets moisture escape instead of trapping it.

Outdoor storage is a corrosion race, and the goal is to slow every entry point at once. The sequence that works: detail the bike so no road salt, bug residue, or moisture is sealed in; protect the paint and brightwork; dress rubber and plastics against UV; lube the chain and exposed pivots; then cover it with a breathable, soft-lined cover that is actually sized to the bike.

Humidity is the enemy in NC more than rain. A vented cover lets the daily moisture cycle escape, while a tarp turns the bike into a terrarium. If the bike will sit for months, we also suggest a fuel stabilizer and a battery tender, which is free advice from the crew, not a service we bill.
