Does exterior detailing remove water spots?
Fresh mineral spots come off with a dedicated water-spot remover during an exterior detail. Etched spots that have baked in over weeks need polishing, because the mineral has eaten a shallow crater into the clear coat.
Water spots are dissolved minerals left behind after the water evaporates. Sprinkler overspray and well water are the usual sources we see in the Triangle, and summer heat accelerates the damage because the droplet flashes off in minutes and concentrates the mineral fast.
On the job, we test one panel first. If a spot remover clears it, the whole car gets that treatment as part of the exterior detail. If the spot leaves a ghost ring after treatment, the mineral has etched the clear coat and the honest fix is machine polishing, which is a different scope. We tell you which one you are looking at during the walk-around, before any work starts.
